LHSF talk presented by Caterina Scott, MA
We are incredibly lucky to be able to welcome Caterina Scott to give a talk to the Lincolnshire Heritage Student Forum group on Thursday 25 April – 18:30-19:30. The talk will be titled ‘Setting Up Lincolnshire’s Second World War Memory Institutions: Influence and Affect‘. This will be hosted at Bishop Grosseteste University, and online via MS Teams. Caterina is a PhD research student on the Cultural Heritage Management Programme at the University of Lincoln. She is also Trustee and Museum Curator at Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre.
This free talk will introduce and explore some of Caterina’s knowledge and PhD research, looking at the influences that affected the setting up of Lincolnshire’s second world war ‘memory institutions’, including three key areas:
- Places – what is the availability of airfield land and buildings, and are they usable?
- Objects – how big are they, who owns them and what conditions and funds do they need to be kept and maintained in perpetuity?
- People – whose idea was it to form a museum or heritage centre or ‘memory institution’, who helped them – how and why?
