Greener Museums – Development Opportunity

What is the programme?

Museum Development East Midlands are happy to be launching the Greener Museums intensive programme of support for 5 museums in the region. Becoming a greener museum walks hand in hand with delivery of a museum’s core objectives and increasing resilience. The Greener Museums programme of support can help to accelerate achievement of goals such as enhancing visitor experience, improving object conservation, improving environmental conditions and avoiding/saving costs.

What does it involve?

The 5 museums joining the programme will be assigned a Greener Museums advisor with over 10 years experience of working on similar programmes of support. The advisor will visit your site to develop a deeper understanding of your museum. This includes meeting staff and volunteers, getting to know your key objectives and ways of working and undertaking a comprehensive review of the building/s and grounds. The key findings and recommendations arising from the review will be captured in a report that contains lots of practical advice and information required to appraise the opportunities and prioritise those you wish to implement. MDEM will then support your museum to achieve these actions.

How to apply:

There are only 5 spaces on this programme for museums who are accredited or working towards accreditation. To register your interest and apply you must complete and return the attached application form. The deadline is 1st June.
