Travels Through Time at Gainsborough Old Hall (11th and 12th July)

You can experience 2,000 years of Gainsborough history at an upcoming family event.

On Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July, Gainsborough Old Hall is hosting Travels Through Time, a fun‐filled family event where you can meet characters from a wide range of historical eras.

Visitors can also get involved with plenty of hands‐on experiences from medieval tile making to a Viking battle to modern‐day forensic archaeology.

Children will be issued with a Time Passport and if they can complete it by visiting all time periods then a prize will await them.

Victoria Mason Hines, Site Co‐ordinator, said: “Travels Through Time will bring 2,000 years of Gainsborough history vividly to life.

“We have a wealth of history in Gainsborough with links to many famous events – it’s time we celebrated those facts.

“You can learn about many different periods of history, in a way that will appeal to children and grown‐ups alike.

“And we’ve a host of characters to meet, from Roman Centurions and battling Vikings to Medieval cooks and Tudor dancers.

“What will you discover?”

The event runs from 11am‐5pm each day.
