I am getting in touch to ask for your help with our UK-wide LiberTeas event (www.liberteas.co.uk).
To commemorate 800 years since the sealing of Magna Carta the Houses of Parliament – in partnership with the National Trust – are asking the nation to take a moment to celebrate, debate and reflect on their liberties by hosting a LiberTea on Sunday 14 June. This could take the form of a lecture, debate, afternoon tea for friends at home, or a street party that brings the entire community together. The only ask is that there is tea at 3pm!
We’re fast approaching a key moment in the campaign. Hosts of the first 400 LiberTeas events who register by 15 April will be invited to attend the ‘signature’ Magna Carta moment at Runnymede on Monday 15 June (the anniversary day itself). This event is by special invitation and the only way for the public to get a pair of tickets is by hosting a LiberTea.
We need your help to raise awareness.
Could your local history group host a LiberTea?
