Free to new learners – Researching the history of your village course

Discover the History of Your Village

Join the CEO of The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire Liz Bates to find out how you can uncover

the history of your village. This short course in Heckington near Sleaford will offer an

introduction to the methods needed to research the history of a rural Lincolnshire village.

The course will give you hints and tips about the types of documentary resources available

for your research. You will learn how a simple survey of a village’s buildings can offer clues

to unlock its rich history. Liz will also share some of the stories of Lincolnshire’s villages to

help inspire you to look deeper into to the character of your local area.

This two session course will be held at the Trust’s offices at the Old School, Cameron Street,

Heckington from 9:30am to 12:30pm beginning on Thursday 20 November and continued on

27 November. The course is FREE to new learners and is part of the Grow programme of

lifelong learning run by Lincolnshire County Council. The course is open to all aged 19 or
