Building the Beonna – Summer School in traditional heritage skills

Young people stone carving18th – 20th August 2014

Benington Community Heritage Trust have teamed up with Freiston Centre For Environmental Education, the Diocese of Lincoln and Lincoln Castle Heritage Skills Centre to offer ten young people a place on a three day summer school in traditional heritage skills.

The free event will offer you people the chance to learn more about their local heritage, develop new skills, gain some valuable work experience and have fun during the summer holidays.

The group will learn about how their local parish church was built and try some of the traditional techniques used; they will learn traditional stone carving, visit the Heritage Skills Centre and have a go at making their own stained glass panel. A visit to Benington All Saints will help them to discover the history of this medieval church and find out about plans to conserve and adapt it for future use.

The summer school is completely free and is open to those aged 14-19, no experience is necessary.  Please note we can only offer ten places and would like to give priority to those from the Benington / Boston area.
