This year the Heritage Forum is re-launching the Lincolnshire Heritage Awards, with new categories chosen by Forum members at the AGM last November. The Awards will celebrate all of the wonderful work taking place in museums, historic houses and heritage sites across the county and reward best practice.
Lincolnshire Heritage Forum would like to invite you to enter the awards, which will be judged in June by David Sleight (Dean of the Faculty of Media, Humanities and Technology, University of Lincoln), Emma Tatlow (Visit Lincoln Partnership Manager) and Steve LeMottee (Executive Director at East Midlands Museums Service).
Entering the Awards is an excellent way to raise the profile of your museum or heritage site and gain recognition for your volunteers and staff. The ceremony will be attended by local councillors, civic dignitaries, representatives of key funding organisations and local media.
Please find below everything you will need to enter this year’s awards which will be presented at an evening ceremony at Gainsborough Old Hall on Thursday 10th July. The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be Rod Whiting from BBC Radio Lincolnshire. Award winners will receive a plaque and significant local and regional promotion.
This year’s award categories are:
- Best Volunteer Project
- Young People in Heritage
- Best Exhibition
- Best Event
- Best Project on a Limited Budget (£0-£500)
- Inspiration Award (for work with collections, site or a building)
- Best Use of Digital Resources
- Excellence (Awarded by judges from full selection of entries)
(Simply click the links to download the notes for each of these categories)
Please have a think about all the different projects, exhibitions, events and other work you have been doing during 2012 and 2013 and enter as many categories as possible! What has worked really well for your museum and your visitors; special events, open days, new exhibitions, community work, talks and lectures, collections projects, work with schools or other projects with young people?
All Heritage Forum members are welcome to enter the Awards as an individual site or as a partnership between any number of organisations – project partners do not have to be Forum members, or heritage sites but the lead applicant must be a current Lincolnshire Heritage Forum member.
The Heritage Awards Ceremony is a great opportunity for Forum members to get together, catch up with friends and colleagues, share success, enjoy a magical evening and celebrate all the fabulous work taking place in museums and heritage sites across Lincolnshire.
